I trained with Nurturing Birth after many years in Early Years Education (Montessori) and Fostering with Kent County Council. I was inspired by chance meeting with a doula and a comment from my grandson asking what I wanted to be when I grew up. I answered a midwife. I felt that being in my sixties prevented me from starting on a career as a midwife but I could study and provide emotional and practical support as a Doula. I have three grown sons, 2 step children and 6 grandchildren. I am just starting in this role and look forward to having a caring role in of the miracle of pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.
