My name is Gulcan, but everyone calls me Jan. I am the mother of two amazing adult sons, and I am passionate about every aspect of a woman’s experience during pregnancy, birth and what follows. I have a great interest in postnatal care, and I am fully aware that media, culture or traditional thoughts on childbirth and motherhood can put immense pressure on a new mother. Through Maternity Mates I realised that being a Doula was my calling and that I wanted to be able to provide support and encouragement for any woman who feels it will benefit her. I speak Turkish and am qualified in the Thompson breastfeeding method.
